The Himalayan region is a fold mountain system, which is formed due to the collision of the Indian Plate with the much larger Eurasian Plate. The Peninsular Plateau is a flat tableland feature which was formed long before the Himalayan Mountains. The Himalayan Region is an unstable landmass and is very young. The Peninsular Region is a very stable landmass and is one of the oldest landmasses. The Himalayan Region is situated in the Northern Part of the Indian subcontinent. The Peninsular Plateau is somewhat situated in the Southern Part of the Indian subcontinent. The Himalayan Region is a mountain system. The Peninsular Plateau is a plateau system.
