What Is It

Agronomists study the agricultural science. They study the crop cultivation and types of soils and soil management. They work on means to increase production and conduct research on issues like crop rotation, irrigation, plant breeding and other such areas.


Requirements for B.Sc. Agriculture is 10+2 with PCB, thereafter one can specialize in different branches of Agronomy in M.Sc. and Ph.D.


Most Agronomists are hired by the government agencies and universities for different programs as extension officers, teachers and research scientists. They are also hired by private companies dealing in agricultural products. The position also depends upon the specialization as horticulturist, crop scientists, soil scientists, plant breeders, biotechnologists or plant pathologists.
