What Is It

Chemical engineers apply the principles of chemistry and engineering to solve problems in production of chemicals. Chemical engineers cut across many fields eg: petroleum refining, fertilizer technology, processing of food and agricultral products, pollution control etc.

Qualification

B.SC./B.TEch (4 years)/M.Tech(11/2 years) with a specialisation in the chosen industry.

Scope

The demand for chemical engineers is in diverse industries such as paints, dyes, drugs, acids, petroleum etc. With an MBA degre, engineers can get into sales and marketing departments too. They usually work for private firms dealing in ceramics.
