What Is It

Pharmacologists study the effects of drugs on the body. Their work may lead to the discovery of new drugs. The work involves developing biological tests in cellular or tissue systems, or in whole animals, working on clinical trials and designing tests to establish the effectiveness of the drug and whether the new compound could produce any side-effects.

Qualification

One can pursue MD Pharmacology after MBBS. They are the most preferred lot. There are B Pharmacy courses that one can do and enter the field of research after doing masters in the same. One must have a strong base in chemistry and biological sciences for a successful career.

Scope

They have scope in drug companies, universities and research institutes for research and development of new or existing products. The have a very high demand in teaching as they are the ones who impart knowledge about drugs to the doctors.
