OVERVIEW OF THE SHOW
Late Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam was a visionary, a remarkable leader, a multi-faceted individual who was also a staunch nationalist with sharp technical acumen. Our search for the next Kalam would end when we find somebody reflecting his persona. “Finding Kalam” is not just a platform but a rare opportunity that will let aspiring students embark on an exciting journey of exploring their true potential and showcase their brilliance on a national stage.
In the loving memory of Late Dr. Kalam and his love for children, Extramarks is sponsoring a Reality Show exclusively for 6th to 12th class students chosen from across the country who compete at various levels to demonstrate their academic proficiency, extra-curricular talent, general knowledge and other skills.
The first two levels will assess students through a couple of online tests where summation of scores will qualify them for further levels. The final levels will be on-stage, on-television; selection and elimination rounds where best of the best students will face challenges in the form of tasks and real-time activities. These levels will take form of a Reality Show that will go On-Air on country’s leading channel - News Nation.
The deliverable conclusion of this Reality Show is to imbibe an aspiration into the minds of Indian Students to develop all-round skills in order to achieve their career ambitions. Apart from many prizes at all levels, this mega competition will crown one winner from Junior Group (6th – 8th) and one winner from Senior Group (9th – 12th) of national finalists. This competition will be based around a set of questions specific to the class, board and curriculum of the student which can be learned and practiced from Extramarks Digital Content (6th-12th) available via Extramarks Smart Study Packs.
This will be an online 3-Stage class-wise (6th-12th) test that can be taken anytime-anywhere on the given dates. The tests will involve Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ’s) from a previous class of the student across 3 difficulty stages chosen from within the Extramarks Smart Study Pack Question Bank that can be taken at home or in school. In Stage 1, there will be 30 questions to be answered within 15 minutes. In Stage 2, there will be a little more difficult 30 questions to be answered in 15 minutes. In Stage 3, there will be 100 questions to be answered in 20 minutes. The assessment across these 3 stages will be generated from an online algorithm on the basis of automated scores. The summation of the same will auto-assess one winner per class per school (applicable only for bulk registrations) who can participate in level 2.
This will again be an online, state-level, class-wise (6th-12th) test that will involve winners of Level 1 from across the state. This test will involve questions across Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) from the same class of the student chosen from within the Extramarks Smart Study Pack Question Bank. There will be unlimited questions to be answered within 20 minutes. The assessment of this level will be on the basis of an automated score generated from an online algorithm that will assess students who have answered maximum questions in 20 minutes and will also address and off-set the possibility of ties. This level will auto-assess ten winners per class per state (subject to clubbing of regions) who can participate in Level 3.
This will be an on-state, state/regional level show. The contestants will be divided into one junior group and one senior group. Students will be assessed on-stage at a venue across 3 stages namely written test, group discussion and an extempore round. This will help identify 1 state-level junior and 1 state-level senior finalist.
This will be a national level contest conducted and broadcasted on NEWS NATION and 2 finalists (1 Jr. and 1 Sr.) from each participating state/region across the country will be chosen for finals. The finalists of this Mega Reality Show will stay together for being evaluated on various parameters. There will be a series of value based activities held real-time.Therefore, the format of the final show, pre-requisites and other necessary circulars shall be issued on our website near to the date of the competition.

The schools willing to participate in this Reality Show shall send their registration data to Extramarks not later than 27th November 2015. The schools shall subscribe to a minimum of 15 Smart Study Package Subscriptions on behalf of their students from each class (6th – 12th). There shall also be a minimum 105 subscriptions from each school to qualify for participation. These subscriptions when accessed online will form part of adaptive learning to qualify level 1 and level 2. To know more, please read Extramarks Smart Study Packs.
In addition, if a school wishes to send only class 11th and class 12th subscriptions, a school can procure 105 subscriptions from within 11th and 12th whilst a minimum 15 subscriptions will ensure one contestant from that particular class. Therefore, for example, class 10th buys 15 packs, class 11th buys 50 packs and class 12th buys 40 packs (TOTAL = 105), the school will qualify for participation.
Also, any school running 6th to 12th classes buys only 15 subscriptions for each class (15 * 7 = 105), will have greater chance of sending their students to state and regional level because each class winner shall be chosen. Hence the probability of winning the contest will be higher if the school registers for all 7 classes.
