CUET 2022: Here’s all you need to know about the test

Common University Entrance Test or CUET was announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) almost a month back on March 22, 2022. The exam would be conducted by the National Testing Agency. However, there are still doubts revolving around the exam.

Students seeking admissions to undergraduate programs from Central universities (including DU, JNU, EFLU, JMI and more) have to appear for CUET. It is crucial to get a clear picture of the exam, and we are here to clear all your doubts.

What is CUET?

CUET 2022 is an online (computer-based) exam for students to seek admission to 45+ Central Universities. As per the NTA, CUET will be conducted in the 1st – 2nd week of July 2022, and the online application process beganfrom April 06 2022  till May 06 2022.

We’ve seen a trend of skyrocketing cut-offs for admission to undergraduate programs at various central universities, including Delhi University, for several years. CUET will provide a single-window opportunity and a level playing field for all students; however, board marks could be the minimum eligibility criteria.


The official CUET 2022 notification was released on March 26, 2022, and the online application procedure has already begun.  The online registration process for the CUET 2022 will be held by NTA tentatively in the first and second weeks of July 2022.

Candidates can pay via debit/credit card/net banking or Challan of SBI bank any branch. GST and other taxes will apply to the Government of India/ Bank. Check category-wise CUET 2022 Application Fee from the below table.

How can you apply for the CUET 2022?

Step 1: Visit the official website of CUET, i.e.,

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link that reads, ‘CUET 2022 Registration’.

Step 3: A new page will appear on the screen.

Step 4: Register yourself and proceed with the application form.

Step 5: Upload the required documents and click on the submit button.

Step 6: Take a printout of the application form for future reference.


Undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs all have varied academic requirements mentioned in detail below for each course.

Undergraduate The student should have a minimum of 50% marks in class 12th for General category candidates and 45% marks for SC/ST candidates.
PostgraduateThe student should have a minimum of 55% (General category) and 50% (SC/ST/OBC/PWD category) in Graduation Degree. In some places, there is a different cut off for the OBC candidate students. 
PhD ProgramThe candidate must have a post-graduate degree in the stream with a minimum of 55% marks for general candidates, 50% marks for OBC candidate and 45% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidate.

The CUET will be conducted online as a computer-based test (CBT). The exam will be for 2 hours or 120 minutes with 100 MCQs. Each correct answer will get 1 mark, while each incorrect answer will deduct 0.25 marks (as per the negative marking). The following are the other important details:
