However, today, let’s get down to doing a few interesting things which will help change your definition of summer to freshness, fun, and laughter! We have collated a few tricks to help you and your friends fight the harsh heat. And the only tool you require in order to do so is SCIENCE! The Cool Shower First, you can start by keeping your surroundings cool. On a hot sunny day, your roof and ground will absorb a large amount of heat, turning your home into something of an oven. So, to remedy this, you can sprinkle water on your roof and grounds. The water will absorb heat from the surfaces, leaving it much cooler when it evaporates. The Icy Air Next, you can make the air around you cooler. This trick will not only work like an air conditioner but also help you cut down on your electricity bill! Place a shallow pan or bowl full of ice in front of your table fan. The air coming from the fan will pick up cold water from the melting ice, creating a cooling mist that will let you chill and have fun. *A refreshing twist: You can also add a few drops of rose water into the pan so that the air that circulates in your room is both, cool and refreshing. The Cool Pot Just like your surroundings, it is very important to keep your body’s temperature under control. The best possible way to achieve this is by staying hydrated. An earthen pot acts as a natural cooler and wrapping it with a wet cloth will give you fridge-chilled water. The wet cloth helps initiate the evaporation process faster, which in turn absorbs the latent heat from the pores of the pot, leaving behind only cool water. The Spa Bomb You can also pamper your body with a refreshing bath and peppermint bath bombs. For this, you’ll need to mix one cup of baking soda with half-cup of citric acid and one-fourth cup of corn-starch. Into this mix, add a one-fourth teaspoon of peppermint essential oil. (The peppermint oil will act as an anti-itch remedy and leave a cooling effect on your body.) Whisk all the ingredients together while adding a few drops of water to it. Now, scoop this mixture into bath bomb moulds and set them aside to dry. Once dry, you can store them in an airtight bag or jar and use them to indulge in a spa-like experience at your home. The Frozen Dessert And last, but not the least, you can reward yourself with a homemade ice-cream for all your hard work. You do not need any fancy machines for this either. Just pour half-cup of milk, one tablespoon sugar, and half-a-teaspoon of vanilla extract in a plastic bag. Get all the air out and then seal the bag. Place this bag into another plastic bag and seal it. Put the double-bag inside a bigger bag and add ice and half-a-cup of rock salt to it. And now, all you got to do is give it a good shake for about 15 minutes. The salt in the ice lowers the temperature at which ice freezes, thereby, absorbing the heat from the milk mixture. And voila! delicious ice-cream is ready to be served and devoured. Science alone is enough to beat the summer heat. You just need to clear all your basic concepts and innovations will follow.
