When one compares the skills one learns in a given corporate job with the skills one needs to learn as an entrepreneur, one can easily find that entrepreneurs have a lot of common human fears to face and deal with, and that process is the way they evolve as remarkable human beings. Such a thing doesn't easily happen when working for someone else on the corporate job, or at least it's not that popular to be seen.

A businessman typically has some sort of internal drive to get started that leads him to believe he has something to share with the world. He can mould some rules and adapt to a bigger game being played around us so that he can create something.
Then, an entrepreneur with technical skills must not only be reasonably good, but he must also master the emotional intelligence at all levels. A guy can't pay people to follow him, and he can't force anyone to develop a trust-based relationship with him, which only happens if he's a great human being and he can be empathically linked.
An entrepreneur also has to sell, and by definition, selling means exposing yourself to rejection. Nobody likes selling because they will eventually have to face rejection, there's a good chance that people won't buy the product or buy you as a person for any particular reason, and that's daunting to many people.
Now, these three conditions, which are essential for any entrepreneur-generally speaking-are definitely difficult challenges to overcome, left alone to master.

That is the process though.
That's how we grow as entrepreneurs and as individuals; by facing challenges, by living on the edge, by not being sure we can.
That's why entrepreneurs will ultimately have better returns-emotionally and financially-at the end of the day, even if they fail their first ventures, simply because they are exposed to failure, and that makes them much harder and "stretched."  
To sum up, being an entrepreneur is fascinating because it is one way to be as human as possible.
