Necessity of constraints:
To understand the need of constraint we need to examine the relationship between individual and society.
a) We need some constraint or else society would descent into chaos.
b) There are numerous reasons when disagreements may develop in a society which may express themselves through open conflict. Therefore every society needs some mechanism to control violence and settle disputes.
c) We need some legal and political restraints to ensure that differences may be discussed and debated without one group coercively imposing its views on the other.
