Sounds Made by Various Objects
English language has a variety of words denoting the sounds of various objects. One can improve one’s vocabulary by familiarizing with some of these words. We use the word jingle for the sound produced by small bells, coins or keys. When things are burnt in a fire we can hear a crackling sound whereas a clock makes a short, light, regular repeated sound which is called a tick.
Thunder is the sound associated with clouds and guns boom. The movement of the leaves caused by the wind is called rustling sound and a river makes a quiet continuous sound which is called murmur. We may be familiar with the sounds like chattering of teeth, pattering of the rain and blaring of trumpets.
