Words Denoting Collection
Learning vocabulary plays a key role in learning a language. The more words a learner knows, the more he/ she will be adept in the language. In the process of learning new words, many learners will find it helpful to memorise and use words that denote a group or collection of things in order to develop their vocabulary the natural way.
In linguistics, when we talk about a limited quantity of something, we use a word like ‘piece’ or ‘bit.’ On the similar grounds, there are other kinds of words as well that denote a collection, such as a band of musicians, a code of laws, a cluster of stars, and so on. Such words are special words that are used before certain nouns to talk about groups or collections. Learning these terms would not only enrich learners’ active vocabulary, but also help them know and use a word like a native speaker does.
