All living things reproduce. Some animals lay eggs. Some animals give birth to their babies. Animals look after their babies till the babies grow enough to take care of themselves.

For Example: The young one of a goat is a kid.

The young one of a rabbit is a kit.

The young one of a deer is a fawn.

There are lots of different kinds of animals living on the earth. Many animals have babies in the spring since the warmer weather makes it is easier for them to find food to feed them. Warmer weather also makes it easier for small babies to survive.

Mammals are animals that have hair or fur, are warm-blooded, and feed their babies with milk. They give birth to their babies. E.g.: Humans, elephants, cats etc.

Birds are warm-blooded and have skeletons and backbones, like mammals. Unlike mammals, birds are covered in feathers instead of fur or hair and hatch from eggs. Mother birds build nests to lay their eggs in, then they carefully sit on their eggs to keep them warm while the baby birds inside grow and develop.
