A process is a series of action that is performed in order to achieve a result. Describing a process takes place when one has to explain a process or the action in question. Process description means writing about how something is made or how something happens.
The main aim of writing a process description is to provide a general introduction to how something works. It is mainly done in steps that are systematically organized. Generally the introductory paragraph introduces the topic of description and gives concise details about the subject. The paragraphs or steps in continuation add to the theme of the introductory paragraph and conclude the process description.
A process description is written in passive voice and words like, firstly then, next, finally, etc are used to describe the steps of a process. It is advisable to avoid using the pronoun ‘you’ while describing a process, and make use of the present tense.
