OOo Writer is the word processor component of the OpenOffice.org software package. OpenOffice.org Writer is a powerful tool for creating professional documents, reports, newsletters and brochures. Working in a word processor involves “Creating or opening a document, typing text in it, editing the document and saving the document”. It is also used for creating notes, designing content for the bulletin boards and creative writing. Posters are designed to be both eye-catching and convey information. The posters are pieces of printed paper designed to be attached to a wall or vertical surface.
Newsletters are regularly distributed publications; generally about one main topic, that is of interest to its subscribers. To create a newsletter, divide the page into columns from the View Menu, Choose the option Section and click on the tab Columns; now select the desired column format. The Columns can also be inserted from the Format menu. Insert the related images into the newsletter to make it attractive.
OOo Calc is similar to MS Excel used for making calculations and implementing formulas on the data. Impress is similar to Power Point used for making powerful presentation. Illustrations can be added to the slides with the help of graphics and chart in OpenOffice Impress. A template is a file that serves as a starting point for a new document.
