A sheet in a spreadsheet contains a block of cells arranged in rows and columns. A file with multiple worksheets is known as Calc spreadsheet.

Various operations can be performed in worksheets like entering data, moving, copying, editing, clearing, saving, inserting/ deleting rows and columns. Three types of data can be entered in worksheet: numeric, alphanumeric or non-numeric and formulas.

Formula is a sequence of values, cell-addesses, names, functions or operators in a cell that produces a new value from existing values. Formulas are the entries that describe the relationship among cells and work on the given instructions to calculate with numbers or text. A cell reference identifies the location of a cell or group of cells in the spreadsheet. Sometimes referred as a cell address, a cell reference consists of column letter and row number that intersect at the cell's location.

A range can be filled with various types of values in adjacent cells by dragging the fill handle or by using Series command. Functions are predefined formulas that perform calculations by using specific values, called arguments. Structure of a function begins with a function name, followed by an opening parenthesis, the arguments for the function separated by commas and a closing parenthesis.
