Basic logic gates

The AND gate is a digital logic gate that can have two or more than two input signals and produce an output signal. A HIGH output, that is, one results only if both the inputs to the AND gate are HIGH, that is, one. If neither or only one input to the AND gate is HIGH, a LOW output results. The OR gate is a digital logic gate with two or more input signals but only one output signal. If all the inputs are zero, then the output is also zero. And, if one or more inputs are one, then the output is one. An Inverter gate is a digital logic gate with only one input. If the input is zero, the output will be one. And if the input is one, the output will be zero. In AND gate, if all inputs are 1 i.e. HIGH then the output is 1, otherwise output is 0. The NOR gate has two or more input signals but only one output signal. If all the inputs are 0, then the output signal is 1. If either of the two inputs is 1, the output will be 0. The NAND gate has two or more input signals but only one output signal. If all of the inputs are 1, then the output produced is 0. The XOR gate, also known as the exclusive OR gate can also have two or more inputs but produces only one output signal.

The exclusive OR gate is different from OR gate. OR gate produces output 1 for any input combination having one or more 1’s but XOR gate produces output 1 for only those input combinations that have odd number of 1’s.

What is the use of AND gate?

    Marks:1
    Answer:

AND gates are used to combine multiple signals. If all the signals are TRUE, the output will also be TRUE. If any of the signals are FALSE, the output will also be FALSE.

    Identify the gate given below?

    Marks:1
    Answer:

The gate given represents the NOT gate. It has only one input and one output. The output state is always opposite to the input state.
