    Marks:25
    Answer:

A Smart Patient and A Dishonest Doctor

There was once a rich old lady who met with a fatal accident and lost her eye sight. She called in a doctor who after examining her eyes told her that her eye sight could be restored, but the treatment was costly and it would take some days to get her vision recovered. The lady agreed on the condition that she would pay the fee only if she got cured, but she would not pay a single penny if she did not get her vision back. The doctor agreed to her condition and started her treatment. He applied some ointment to her eyes and bandaged them for some days.

The doctor was a dishonest man. His eyes were on the valuable objects and costly furniture in the house of the lady. Since the lady could not see, he started stealing something or the other every day from the house without her knowledge. At last the day came when the doctor had to remove the bandage from the eyes of the lady as she was cured. The greedy doctor asked for his fee but the smart lady refused to pay his fee. The doctor dragged her to the court.

The judge asked the lady the reason for not paying the fee. The lady replied that she has not gained her eye sight completely as she could not see a few objects and some furniture in her house. It did not take much time for the judge to understand that the doctor has stolen them. He found the doctor guilty. He gave the verdict in favour of the lady and the doctor was punished for stealing.

A Man Writes his own Destiny

A little boy named Jacob was born in a poor family. At a very tender age, he lost his parents in a road accident. He wanted to get education but his poor financial condition did not allow him to take admission in any school. He remained illiterate and so did not find any means of earning. In order to meet his daily needs, he took to pick pocketing and small stealing. One day he was caught red-handed by the police for pick pocketing. Since he was only thirteen years old, he was sent to the juvenile prison where he was forced to take lessons. He had no interest in them and the compelling behaviour of the people in the prison made him hostile and rebellious. It was only during the recreation hours that he seemed to be in his normal self. One day, while watching a Spanish comic film on TV, he was fascinated with the Spanish language. The appetite for learning this new language grew in him deeply. He requested the prison authorities to arrange for his tuition classes in Spanish and to provide him a few books on elementary Spanish. They agreed to his proposal quickly as they were themselves interested to make him learn something so as to become self-dependent. Jacob showed keen interest in learning the language, and in a very short time he had learned the language thoroughly. Jacob was set free after three years from the prison. By that time he had decided to use Spanish language as his means of earning to live a respectful life. After a year of practice in Spanish and completing a diploma in Spanish language, he became a Spanish tourist guide. Due to his amicable nature and pleasant demeanour, he become famous among tourists and earned a good name in the tourism industry. From then, he started leading a respectful life. He forgot all his past and was happy for the sudden but positive turn in his life. He proved that man writes his own destiny. He sets an example for others that in spite of all the odds, if one wants to turn adversities into opportunities, nobody can stop him or her from doing so.
