Women being held back by stereotypes. Write an argumentative composition for the motion.

    Marks:10
    Answer:

All blondes are dumb, pretty girls have high standards and all outspoken women have loose character. Haven’t we all heard such outrageous rubbish about women? And why are men not judged on the same standards? How often have we actually raised a voice at this injustice?

The reason is that the behavior of both the sexes is determined by the society through a binding covenant. We call it stereotyping.

We start stereotyping a girl the moment she is born. We decorate her nursery and flood it with pink color. Why do we find small boys playing with tanks and cars while a girl is given a kitchen set as a birthday gift? Without even realizing it, we set boundaries for their behavior.

People would not shy away from calling her a slut for wearing short skirt. A woman who indiscriminately speaks her mind would be labeled as ‘unfeminine’.

People who in fact make liberal use of such demeaning terms should remember that it was in fact a woman who gave birth to them. They owe their existence to her. She feeds them, nurtures them and loves them with all her heart. But how does the society repay her? By putting her in shackles and crushing all her dreams in the name of protecting her!

All of us have to make a conscious effort to ‘unlearn’ a great deal about how the society wants us to behave. As a young independent woman myself, I can say with confidence that every girl yearns to be independent and free and in order for that to happen the whole society needs to understand that there is in fact no difference between a man or a woman.

Breaking down gender stereotypes is extremely important and necessary and for this an active participation of men is very much needed.

The stereotypes are vilifying, where women are in fact made to confirm to narrow concept of ‘womanhood’, which is not only alienating but also superimposes the accepted norms of patriarchy.

Give a girl the strength to stand on her own, show her that you trust her and let her spread her wings and fly and you’d be amazed to see how far she can go.

The youth of today can be seen talking on cell phones for hours together in buses, on roads, in schools and colleges, thus wasting their precious time, neglecting studies and sometimes even risking their lives due to accidents. Write an argumentative essay arguing for the motion ‘The use of mobile phone is more a disadvantage than an advantage.’

    Marks:10
    Answer:

I strongly believe that the use of mobile phones is more a disadvantage than a n advantage. Most of us cannot imagine a moment without them. They definitely have bridged the gap between people and facilitated communication between people dwelling in distant cities, but spending too much time on them is indeed nothing short of an addiction.

Our generation spends hours on mobiles and most of us don’t exercise caution while using phones while walking on roads, travelling in buses. In fact many cases of phone confiscations have started happening in schools and colleges. Mobile phones have practically invaded each and every space. Some of us have begun to even neglect our studies and waste our time playing games or chit chatting with friends. Usage of mobile phones while driving is another menace. So many lives are lost due to sheer negligence.

Friends, in the end, I would like to conclude by appealing to the people of my age group to stop and think about evaluating your dependence on mobiles.

Children become more disciplined in a boarding school.” Write an argumentative composition arguing against the motion.

    Marks:10
    Answer:

Many feel that sending a child to a boarding school can help instil discipline in him. While it is true that those who stay in hostels learn to become independent, the same can be taught at home as well. It is not just a stern hostel warden who can tame a notorious child.

What gives maximum pleasure to parents is to see their children grow up. Many guardians miss on this delightful experience by sending their kids to school. Today’s parents are busier than ever before. But that does not mean that they can shirk their responsibility of rearing their children properly. When parents give good culture to their child, they leave a rich legacy.

By being firm and spending enough time with their children, parents can make them disciplined. The carrot and stick approach comes in handy in dealing with children who are bound to be mischievous.

Parents can teach discipline to their children by leading by example. When parents themselves are disciplined, there is every chance that their children would like to follow them. Therefore, one can say that the notion that children become disciplined when they are sent to a boarding school is just a perception.
