The impact of social networks on young people is significant. Children are growing up surrounded by mobile devices and interactive social networking sites such as Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook, which has made the social media a vital aspect of their life. Social network is transforming the manner in which young people interact with their parents, peers, as well as how they make use of technology.

The effects of social networking are twofold. On the positive side, social networks can act as invaluable tools for professionals. They achieve this by assisting young professionals to market their skills and seek business opportunities. Social networking sites may also be used to network professionally. Write a reflective essay on impact of unemployment on poverty.

    Marks:25
    Answer:

Unemployment and poverty are the two major challenges that the world economy is facing at present. Unemployment leads to financial crisis and reduces the overall purchasing capacity of a nation. This in turn results in lower demand, less production, less employment, more poverty followed by increasing burden of debt. Poverty can be described in several ways. As per the World Bank definition, poverty implies a financial condition where people are unable to maintain the minimum standard of living.

Poverty can be of different types but the basic reason has always been lack of adequate income. Here comes the role of unemployment behind poverty. Lack of employment opportunities and the consequential income disparity bring about mass poverty in most of the developing and under developed economies of the world.

Lack of effective aggregate demand of labour is one of the principal reasons for unemployment. In the less developed economies a substantial portion of the total workforce works as surplus labour. This problem is particularly prevalent in the agricultural sector. Due to excess labour, the marginal productivity of the workforce may be zero or even negative. This excess pool of labour is the first to become unemployed during the period of economic or social crisis.

When a capitalist economy undergoes some dynamic changes in its organizational structure, it results in structural unemployment. This type of unemployment may also emerge if the lack of aggregate demand continues for a substantially long period of time. In case of frictional unemployment, workers are temporarily unemployed. There may be cases of hidden unemployment where workers restrain themselves from working due to absence of appropriate facilities.

It is true that unemployment and poverty are mostly common in the less developed economies. However, due to the global economic recessions, the developed economies are also facing these challenges in the recent times. The US subprime crisis and its wide spread impacts have played a major role in worsening the situation.

Economic reforms, changes in the industrial policy and better utilization of available resources are expected to reduce the problem of unemployment and poverty that results from it. The economic reform measures need to have major impacts on the employment generating potential of the economy. The governmental bodies are also required to initiate long term measures for poverty alleviation. Generation of employment opportunities and equality in income distribution are the two key factors that are of utmost importance to deal with the dual problem of unemployment and poverty.

Write a reflective essay on the issue of burning of garbage in society.

    Marks:25
    Answer:

Social issues are matters which directly or indirectly affect many or all members of a community and are considered to be problems or controversies related to some moral and ethical values. I live in a peaceful neighbourhood on the southern highway and there is a big open backyard nearby; we do not come across any major social issues, but I believe that we do have some problems. I assume that the burning of garbage is an issue we face. Sweepers dump all the waste collected from the nearby residential areas in this yard, and burn it. There are many times we would see and smell the burning from different vicinities, and the smoke is such a nuisance. The smoke pollutes the air and it has an effect on global warming. The burning of garbage affects the environment by destroying the land, a factor of production. It is very unhealthy and it can cause diseases such as bronchitis, asthma, cough, lung cancer, etc. to many people who inhale the smoke. Whenever we smell the smoke, my parents ensure me to close all windows and doors so the odour could not enter in my house, since I suffer from asthma. There is this property a few yards from my house, where there was once constant burning of garbage at night, and it bothered my family and the neighbours a lot. My mother got in contact with the owner of the premises, told him about the problem, and it ceased a couple of days later. Burning of garbage or the strong odour of smoke does not welcome visitors to the area, and it brings bad impressions upon the community. As a community we could have a meeting with the city council to discuss the matter. We could suggest better ways to get rid of the garbage instead of burning it. Not only in my community, but in other communities in the country we could prevent the burning of garbage. We can make the earth a better, cleaner place to live if the garbage generated from households and factories is handled properly and disposed of safely.
