Write a detailed description of a piano.

    Marks:25
    Answer:

A piano is a musical instrument that is played by pressing keys on a keyboard. Each key is a lever that makes a hammer inside the piano hit a string inside. It hits it very quickly and bounces off so that the string is free to vibrate, producing a sound. Each string has a different length and so produces a different note. This means that the vibrations are sent to the soundboard. The soundboard is a very important part of the piano. If it is damaged the piano will not make a sound.

Although the piano was invented at the beginning of the 18th century, it was not until 50 years later that it started to become popular. The first time the piano was played in a public concert in London was in 1768 when it was played by Johann Christian Bach. The piano has been an extremely popular instrument in Western countries since the late 18th century. It has eighty-eight black and white keys. Smaller pianos were made for use in people’s homes. At first these included square pianos and giraffe pianos, later on the upright pianos became popular for home use. Pianos are often not used in orchestras. There is a vast amount of music written for piano solo. The piano can also be used together with other instruments, in jazz groups, and for accompanying singing.

Sitting on a piano bench with my fingers on the keys is the happiest and most familiar place for me to be because it is the easiest place for me to be myself.

    Marks:25
    Answer:

No matter where you live, washing dishes has always been look at as being a tedious job but today our job is much easier than it was few years back. New technologies like dishwashers and grease fighting soaps made washing much easy now.

Dishwashers are mechanical devices that are used to clean eating utensils and dishes. They work by spraying very hot water, mixed with detergents to dishes, followed by clean water to get rid of the detergent, and then dry the cleaned utensils. It is for the interest of saving time that people have continued to design kitchen equipment that saves time. Dishwashers have a lot of advantages, placing them among the most used equipment in the kitchens at homes and at restaurants. Dishwashers do not need a person to monitor. Many people are sensitive to certain chemicals contained in soaps and detergents. When the soaps and detergents are in contact with their body, they develop certain reactions; this can lead to dry and bruised skin. Dishwashers will be of great help to such individuals since they do not contain soaps and detergents. The machine releases the detergents and the soaps automatically. An individual just need to load the dishwasher and it does the rest of the activities.

The dishwasher can be adjusted depending on the utensils to be cleaned. For instance, one should set low temperatures for washing small utensils. This will ensure that each utensil is cleaned properly. One should not mix metallic cups with plastic mugs when washing since high temperature will damage the plastic cups. Similarly, one should not mix breakable utensils with utensils that cannot be broken easily. The temperatures of the dishwasher can also be adjusted depending on the stains on the utensils. For instance, utensils that have fatty residues of food will require hot water. Contrary, utensils that do not have fatty residues do not require hot water to remove the stains. The cleaning speed of the dishwasher can also be adjusted depending on the volume of utensils to be cleaned.

Write a detailed description of a microwave oven.

    Marks:25
    Answer:

Similar to other great inventions, the invention of microwave oven happened accidently. In 1945, an American electrical engineer, Dr. Percy Spencer was carrying out experiment with radar equipment, which detects objects by bouncing waves and analyzing the signals it produced. Dr. Percy Spencer had a bar of chocolate in his pocket when he was conducting experiment using a special kind of vacuum tube called a magnetron. Surprisingly, the chocolate bar in his pocket had melted due to the heat of the magnetron generated. He was curious about the heat generated by the magnetron. Dr. Percy Spencer came to a scientific conclusion that microwave energy can be used to heat items. This led to the invention of microwave oven. In 1953, he patented his idea and the first microwave oven was launched.

Microwave oven is a kitchen appliance which cooks food using microwave energy. Microwave oven is quick and efficient equipment because it transfers heat energy directly to the molecules inside foods. Microwave is a form of electromagnetic radiation which is very close to radio waves and sunlight. Microwave oven has shortened the time to prepare food.

A microwave oven has a numeric keypad using which we can set cooking time and power levels. It also has cool touch door; a cooling fan; a magnetron which is the heart of the oven to generate heat; an interlock to avoid the functioning of microwave oven if the door is left opened; a turntable; and child lock.

Microwave oven need specific utensils to cook food as not all metals and alloy vessels can be used. Some of the materials, such as metal and foil, are tended to reflect microwave energy. Usage of metal utensils in microwave oven is avoided. Microwave ovens are often be used daily in kitchens, cafeterias, restaurants, snack bars and homes. Today, it is perhaps the most successful electric appliance introduction in the 20th century.

Write a detailed description of an object that is very important in your life.

    Marks:25
    Answer:

Everyone possesses some object which they would not like to part with. There are, of course, some reasons for it. My favourite thing is laptop. For me, laptop is more than a machine, a friend with whom I can spend leisure time; one who is useful and has many functions to perform in my life.

Laptops are computers that you can take anywhere with you without hassle. They can take up very little space and be used for hours without access to power. They come in various sizes, which usually refer to the size of the display. They range from a 10-inch to a 20-inch for mainstream laptops and are available in various colours. The size of my laptop is 14 inch as a usual laptop. It is silver grey in colour. As I am a student, I need laptop to do my home works, to make projects that need the Internet browsing. I do a lot of practice on useful application software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Paintbrush, etc. I often do my tasks through these programs. So, it means that my laptop is very useful and can help me to do my task. On the other hand, when I feel tired at the end of day, I often use it for playing video games, watching CD/DVD and sometimes I also listen to music on it. Another benefit of my laptop is by communicating via internet. In this modern area, we can meet or communicate with distant people without meeting them in person. Luckily, I can do it by communicating via the Internet. Such as using Skype or we called it “Video call”, using mail or email, and the last one is by using Facebook and twitter.

I cannot think of a day in my life without my laptop. It has become an indispensable object in my life.
