    Train Mishap in MP: 15 Dead, 40 Injured

    Shivapuri,14th April,2011.A massive train mishap took place in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, April 14 which left 15 people dead and 40 others injured.

    The Gwalior Intercity Express collided with a goods train, head to head at Shivapuri station early in the morning, when many people were heading to their offices or schools. The collision was so hard that the locomotive of the Intercity Express remained at the same place and the coaches behind it, jumped over it.

    Two relief trains have already reached the spot for rescue work. Railway minister, Mamata Banerjee, has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the next of the kin of the dead and Rs 1 lakh and 50,000 for those with serious and minor injuries respectively.Though it appeared to be a case of negligence but according to the Railway sources, the low visibility in the area, as it was raining heavily, caused the accident.

    Camp Fire at St. Mary’s School, Lucknow

    Lucknow,19th May, 2011. A four day camp-fire was organized by the Bharat Scouts and Guides from 19th May, 2011 to 22th May, 2011 under the able guidance of Mrs. Sunita Sharma, the venue director and the principal, Mr. A.K. Ajay. A total of 90 Scouts and Guides from 10 schools of Lucknow participated in the camp.

    The grand camp-fire, a mega event of the camp, was organized on 22nd May, which was graced by the august presence of the chief guest, Mr. Dinesh Sharma, the Hon’ble Mayor of Lucknow. The chief guest lighted the lamp and gave the message about unity, peace, brotherhood and solidarity which are the four values of Scouts and Guides. During the function the children shared their experience of working as a team, in the self-made tent, bearing the scorching heat of the summer sun. The programme concluded with a grand feast which was enjoyed by one and all.

    Celebration of Grandparents’ Day

    Saket,16th April, 2011.The grandparents of the students of DAV Public School, Saket, had a fun and frolic filled day on 16th April, 2011, when they were greatly honoured and appreciated during the Grandparents’ Day function. The grandpas and grandmas turned out in large number.

    In the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Anil Kumar, the hon’ble principal of the school lighted the traditional lamp. DAV School was wrapped up in joyous atmosphere. The tiny tots made the day special for their grandparents by lining up a lot of entertaining and fun filled programmes. They put up a grand show by presenting songs, skits and dances to the tune of popular music that left the grandparents spellbound.The highlights of the event were the games -musical chair and passing the parcel -which the grandparents thoroughly enjoyed. Irrespective of their age, they even danced. The function was a grand success.

The seminar aimed at inspiring the young minds to promote eco-friendly habits and thereby contribute in keeping our planet free from pollution and other environmental hazards.

    The renowned environmentalist, Mrs. Vandana Shiva was the chief guest. In her inspiring speech, she exhorted the audience to help in bringing about 'Green Revolution'. She declared that she has been spearheading the war against the modern trends which destroy the planet. By planting a sapling, she reminded us, we too can contribute our share in the venture of making our planet green and healthy.There were discussions on various topics such as global warming, environmental pollution, etc. At the end, an interesting skit was staged by the talented students of class IX which gave an unforgettable message on the protection of our environment.

    Sports-cum-Annual Day, 2011

    Cambridge Public School, Ghaziabad, celebrated its 28th Sports-cum-Annual Day on 1st January, 2011 at their school play ground in a frolicsome atmosphere. The Day was exclusively for students from classes VI to X. A festive spirit was created with a well decorated playground.
    The chief guest at the Annual Day celebrations was the renowned cricketer and World Cup champion, Mr. Suresh Raina and the guest of honour was the District Magistrate, Mr. Sanjay Kumar. As the distinguished guests entered into the ground, guard of honour was given by the students. Athletic events like Hurdle Race and Relays added to the excitement and thrill, not only among the students but also among the onlookers. The spirit of true sportsmanship was evident everywhere. The programme was followed by the prize distribution session. The all-rounder trophy was received by the captain of the Red House, amidst thunderous applause and cheers. The function concluded with a vote of thanks by the Vice-Principal.
