Write a speech on the following topic – "Gambling is immoral."Marks:25
Respected principal, distinguished teachers and my friends,
Today I take this opportunity to deliver a speech on a serious issue which is of concern to our society at large. I will address this august gathering on the ill-effects of gambling that has been crippling our social order.
Gambling is an immoral activity. It is one of the evils that have been prevalent since the beginning of civilization. Gambling is extremely enticing and anyone who does not have a strong willpower can easily fall prey to it. This morally wrong practice manifests itself in more ways than one. To begin with, gamblers are normally addicted to the game of cards. Playing cards is good enough unless there is no cash involved. However, if the players start risking their money, the consequences can be disastrous. Buoyed by his success, the winner will wager a bigger amount next time. However, if he loses, he will have to part with his entire lump sum. This is the biggest hazard involved in the game of gambling. People lose a lot of money and even turn bankrupt. Moreover, gambling can also lead to differences among friends.
Betting is another ugly form of gambling. It is opted for by those who have money to burn or those who want to get rich quickly. In fact, the elite consider it their prerogative to stake their money on horse races. It is in the race course that many rake in millions while others are reduced to paupers. The drastic change in fortune of the stakeholders underlines the precarious nature of the game. Then there are those who place bets on sporting events. In facts, betting becomes so rampant during cricket and soccer matches that tabloids and dailies feel incumbent on themselves to publish the odds in favour of and against the teams involved. Such form of betting is unlawful and those who enter this trade are bound to face legal punishment.
Gambling is just not justified. If you are enamoured by it, you just need to take note of the perils that it entails.
Write a speech on the following topic – "Responsible behaviour."Marks:25
My warm greetings to everyone present here. Today I stand before you to deliver a speech on the topic - responsible behaviour.
It is not really difficult to explain responsible behaviour. Those who discharge their duties properly are considered responsible and a person who behaves responsibly is always looked up to. However, it will be unwise if we have a parochial view in this regard. If we reflect, we can easily recall various instances or examples of responsible behaviour.
To begin with, parents behave responsibly when they rear their children properly. A father fulfills his responsibility by earning a decent income and running his family and a mother does the same by doing all the household chores and looking after her children. Similarly, dutiful children are those who do well academically which is their main responsibility.
We, as social beings, are often asked to behave responsibly. A responsible citizen is one who abides by the rules and regulations of the country. Those who don’t litter or make a conscious effort to keep their surroundings clean do a great service to society. While driving, if a person follows the speed limit, obeys the traffic rules is a responsible citizen.
Our planet is confronting various problems, the most serious of them being global warming. Those who take due precautions to minimise their contribution to this destructive phenomenon behave in a responsible manner. For instance, if a well-earning officer uses public transport instead of travelling by his own vehicle, he sets a prime example of responsible behaviour. Responsible citizens will ensure that they do not waste water. In fact, they will save or utilise every single drop by watering the plants and ensuring that none of their taps leak. Anti-piracy can also be associated to responsible behaviour. It is just not right to buy pirated CDs and books, no matter what.
A responsible behaviour helps in warding off problems and is always appreciated.
Write a speech on the following topic – "Gender discrimination."Marks:25
My heartiest greetings to everyone present here. Now I am going to deliver a speech on gender discrimination which is still very much prevalent in developing countries. Gender discrimination basically implies unfair treatment meted out to a person solely on the basis of their sex. This phenomenon is more rampant in the case of women.
The womenfolk are an exploited lot in many countries and they have to deal with all sorts of difficulties. From the moment of their birth, a girl and a boy traverse different paths before they reach adulthood. However, the problems that a girl encounters far exceed those faced by a boy. A girl realises very early in her life that she is the weaker sex. First and foremost, a society or a country generally has more males than females. The fact that they are a minority often leads to low self-esteem in women.
Education and gender discrimination are inversely proportional. A well-educated society will always witness lesser instances of gender discrimination. As the working class or the lower middle class fails to receive proper education and is often illiterate, its fairer sex lives a life full of miseries. One just needs to visit the hinterlands which are full of horrific tales involving girls or women. Till date, the life of many a girl child is nipped in the bud the moment she is conceived. This appalling practice stems from the negative mindset of parents who believe that a girl is a liability and a boy is an asset. Many girls are deprived of their right to education as their parents feel that they will be better off doing household work. Moreover, marrying off a girl is an expensive affair as the groom’s side always expects a heavy dowry. A girl’s life is the most unsafe. Whether she is in a city or a village, a girl will always be apprehensive.
Gender discrimination is the curse of growing economies and their governments must take proper action to deal with it.
Write a speech on the following topic – "Laughter is the best medicine."Marks:25
A very warm good morning to everyone present here. Today I stand before you to deliver a speech on an age-old saying, i.e. Laughter is the best medicine.
We all feel good when we laugh. A good hearty laugh leaves us happy and bright. So, it is obvious that laughter is beneficial to our health and well-being. The antithesis of laughter is worry. Worry causes stress which further leads to all sorts of health problems. Cardiac arrest or nervous breakdown is normally on the cards if a person takes too much stress. High blood pressure is also related to a high level of stress. Laughter is the best antidote to stress. When one guffaws, the secretion of stress hormones is inhibited and that of health beneficial hormones is sped up.
A human body fares better when it has a strong immune system and is less dependent on drugs. Laughter helps to strengthen the immune system. It expedites the flow of blood in our veins, thereby creating more vigour. Those who are prone to laughing a lot have a radiant face. Many are also oblivious that laughter is a good exercise for our abdominal organs. Our stomach muscles contract and relax vigorously when we are in splits.
The body aside, laughter is equally advantageous to the brain. People laughing daily will be mentally agile as their mind will be free from fatigue and worry. The most difficult thing to do on this planet is to make a person laugh. Those who induce laughter easily are adored. We are never shy of associating ourselves with funny characters. While a frowning face is a big turn off, a cheerful countenance is inviting. A person in search of a soul mate more often looks for someone with a good sense of humour.
Hence, we come to the conclusion that the more we laugh, the longer we live.
Write a speech on the following topic – "The benefits of recess activities."Marks:25
Write a speech on the following topic – "The benefits of recess activities."
Respected Principal, Honourable teachers and my beloved schoolmates,
Today I stand on the podium to deliver a speech on a general topic which is engrossing nevertheless. Now I like to share my thoughts on the benefits of recess activities.
Whether we are studying or working, we get very little leisure time. So it is important that we make optimum use of whatever leisure time we have at our disposal. It will be criminal if we fritter away our free time by staying idle. There are several recess activities that one can choose when there is no work.
There are different recess activities for people belonging to different age groups. Children, for instance, would not be very fond of reading. They would rather prefer to watch cartoon films or play video games. But a recess activity should be such that one learns or develop a new skill. Two of the best recess activities for children are painting and dancing. It is a known fact that children love colours. Painting is an art and a child should definitely be encouraged to take up this hobby. Dancing, on the other hand, can be both rejuvenating as well as entertaining. Moreover, with so many talent hunts now, parents can certainly think of sending their children to dance classes.
Students have their nose buried in books most of the time. Therefore, they must try to unwind themselves when they are not studying. Listening to music or a solitary walk can really be therapeutic for a student who is diligently preparing for an examination.
Office-goers and professionals have to slog a lot. Theirs is an everyday struggle for survival. If they don’t seek solace in some healthy recess activity, their life can become chaotic. Adults can’t look for a better habit than reading. They can keep enhancing the quality of life by reading good books. Physical exercise such as jogging or sweating it out in the gym can be equally beneficial to their health and well-being.
A recess activity need not always involve expenditure. Some of the most fun filled recess activities are in fact some of the simplest ones.
