The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) was established in 1961 by the Government of India to provide assistance and advice to the Central and State governments. In order to improve the quality of school education, the organisation develops policies and programs.
The primary objective of NCERT is to conduct, promote, and coordinate research related to school education. Furthermore, NCERT collaborates with international organizations, visits foreign delegations, and provides training to educational personnel in developing countries.
The National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is responsible for preparing and publishing model textbooks, supplementary materials, newsletters and journals, as well as educational kits and digital multimedia materials.
From Class I to Class XII textbooks published by NCERT are prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), with a few exceptions. The books are now prescribed by a number of School Boards in different states.
In New Delhi, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), a National Board of Secondary Education for both public and private schools, is administered and controlled by the Government of India. In 1921, it was established as the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education, with jurisdiction over Rajputana, Central India, and Gwalior.
Ajmer, Merwara, Central India, and Gwalior schools were included in the Board of High School and Intermediate Education established by the Government of India in 1929.
Later, it was restricted to the cities of Ajmer, Bhopal, and Vindhya Pradesh. A new name was given to the organisation in 1952, which is now known as the Central Board of Secondary Education.
