JEE Main 2022 dates have been announced by NTA (National Talent Academy) on Feb 21, 2022. The JEE Main 2022 registration will officially begin on Feb 28, 2022. All JEE Main related official communications are published online on NTA’s official site nta.ac.in or jeemain.nta.nic.in. This time the NTA authorities have come up with a significant change. They have decided to conduct JEE Main 2022 in 2 attempts instead of the earlier norm of 4 attempts. The JEE Main 2022 exam is planned for April and May.

Introduction to the Exam:

The Joint Entrance Exam is an assessment examination in India conducted by National Talent Academy (NTA) for students aspiring for admission to the country’s most prestigious engineering and architectural colleges. Every year, students appear for this examination in large numbers. This national level exam is conducted in two different phases – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. 

The admission procedures commence with JEE Main. Clearing JEE main is the stepping stone for admission to the top colleges and institutions, including 31 NITs, 27 GFTIs, 23 IITs, and 18 other CFTIs spread across the country. In addition, students who have cleared JEE Main become eligible to appear for the JEE advance examination. The JEE Main entrance exam is one of the most challenging examinations and requires hard work and determination. 

Students who have cleared Class XII in Mar’2021 or are appearing for the 2022 board examinations would be eligible to apply for JEE Main 2022.

JEE Main 2022 Exam Dates

This year’s JEE Main examination has been delayed due to the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and elections in five Indian states. The official notification is now out on jeemain.nta.nic.in, and the online applications have commenced.

What’s New in JEE Main 2022

The information and brochure details for the exam have been published on the official NTA website. Considering the COVID-19 and elections across a few states in India, the number of JEE Main 2022 attempts has decreased to two from earlier year norms of four attempts.

The entire list of all participating institutes/colleges will be released on the official NTA website after completing the exam. Students can select the institute based on their merit, ranks and cutoff released for JEE Main 2022.

JEE Main 2022 Application:

JEE Main application form starts from _______ and will close on __________. Eligible Candidates can access the form from the official website of NTA and will be required to fill in the application form. 

Please refer to the following guidelines for filling the application form:

1. Candidates should check their eligibility by going through the eligibility criteria.
2. If eligible, candidates should fill out the application form online before the deadline.  
3. The overall application procedure consists of the following steps – New Registration, online application form filling with personal, educational details, parental income, the language of test, etc., uploading documents, payment of application fee, etc.
4. Upload scanned photographs of the candidate’s image and signature.
5. Pay the application fee via Internet banking / online payment to complete the application form.
6. Check all details correctly, and then submit your form. 
7. All the information provided by the candidate for the registration should be accurate; otherwise, it might cause rejection of the form.
8. Students who may have made errors while filling and submitting the form may be given the option of correction later. 
9. Download and save the application form for future reference

Documents required for JEE Main 2022 Registration:

For filling out the application form, students should have the following list of documents with them: 

• Scanned photographs of the candidate’s image and a clear signature on a white background.
• Caste certificates – only required for candidates belonging to reserved category. 
• PWD certificate – In case applicable.
• Debit card/ bank details for payment of application fee. 
• Softcopies of Aadhaar card, Bank passbook, Ration card, etc. 

If a candidate forgets the application password, the steps mentioned below must be followed:

• Visit the website  jeemain.nta.nic.in
• Click on the ‘Forgot Password’ link
• Candidates must fill out their application number and date of birth.
• The hyperlink generates a brand-new password. It can be sent to the registered email of the applicants. 
• It is necessary to save the password for future reference. 

In case a candidate forgets the application number, the steps mentioned below must be followed. 

• Candidates should verify their email or phone number on the form. A message will be sent which includes the JEE application number. OR
• The printout of the form should be checked for the application number. OR
• Contact the NTA authorities to know your application number.

JEE Main Application Fees:

JEE Main 2022 Application Form Correction:

JEE applicants can make corrections in the specific fields in their application form through the  JEE Main application form correction window in case of any discrepancies in the application form. 

Some of the details that can be modified:

• Personal Details: This can be used to rectify spelling errors in personal details.
• Academic Details: Helps update the academic details or make any changes.
• Paper Change: Applicants who want to switch from Paper 1 to Paper 2 or vice versa, can do so through the window. Additionally, they can choose both papers but must make the payment for the balance amount.
• Category Change: Applicants may modify their category in the application form. If they change the category from reserved to general, a modification fee must be paid. Also, they can change the category from general to reserved, but no amount will be reimbursed for the same.
• Language Change: The linguistic medium of the examination can be changed.
• Other Changes: Applicants can change their Name, Date of Birth, and Eligibility details.

JEE Main 2022 Admit Card

The NTA will release the Admit Card 15 days before the date of the examination. Admit cards can be downloaded online from the official website of JEE The Admit card carries details about the date and time of the exam, exam centre, candidate’s info like name, image, signature, and subjects of paper, which the candidate has selected to appear for. Details about the JEE Main entrance examination and instruction of COVID-19 may also be mentioned on the admit card. Any mistakes or discrepancies on the admit card should be notified to the NTA as soon as possible.

1. Log in to the official website www.jeemain.nic.in
2. Left-hand side, click on the tab “current events”.
3. Under the tab, click on the link “Download Admit card 2022.”
4. You should sign in using any of the following two ways.
   1. Using application number and password.
   2. Using application number and date of birth.
5. Once you sign it, click on the link. The admit card will now be visible. 
6. Check all details on the admit card properly and then download it. 
7. Once downloaded, print the admit card for further use.

Candidates who cannot download their admit cards should contact the JEE helpline immediately. No candidate could appear for the examination without an admit card. 

Aadhar Card Possession:

The Aadhar card is a compulsory document for the JEE Main 2022 assessments. All the information on the application form must be correct and must be as per the Aadhar card. In case of discrepancies, the candidate will not be allowed to write down the examination. Candidates with any incorrect information or misprint on the Aadhar Card can get it corrected quickly before the last date to fill out the application form. According to JEE officers, candidates must get all the discrepancies fixed from the UIDAI or their respective colleges. 

Also, overseas applicants should have their passports as their eligibility will depend on the permanent address mentioned in the passport. 

IIT JEE Main 2022 Reservation Criteria

Note: Reservation for institutes IIITs, NITs, and GFTIs will be based on the central list and not as per the state eligibility.

JEE Main Exam Centres 2022

Below is the total number of centres where examinations are conducted for JEE Main across India and outside India.

Few countries/cities outside India where the JEE Main exams are conducted are Bahrain, Colombo, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore, Kuwait, Malaysia, and Nigeria.

The exam centre allotted to the candidate appearing for the exam will be decided based on the centre requested while filling out the JEE application form. Candidates must fill four choices of exam centres, and the NTA will allot any one JEE exam centre from the four preferences given by the candidate. All details about the exam centre will be mentioned on the JEE admit card. Candidates can also change the city of appearing for the exam before the admit card is released; however, any changes will not be made once the hall ticket is released.

Choosing the best reference books is a critical part of any exam preparation. While NCERTs books are primarily used for clearing the basic ideas, the JEE Main exams test candidates for their in-depth understanding and knowledge of each topic. JEE Main Answer Key

The NTA releases the official answer sheet of JEE Main every year a few days after the JEE Main exam date. The answer sheet gets published on the official website. Candidates will access and download the pdf for free using their login details (application number and password/date of birth). The answer sheet will help the candidates to calculate their estimated scores. Follow these steps to download the answer key:

1. Visit the official website.
2. Click on the ‘Answer Key’ link.
3. Enter your login details 
4. The answer key 2022 will be displayed.
5. Click on the download button to save the pdf file on your device. 

JEE Main 2022 Results

• JEE Main Result contains scores, percentile and rank details.
• Top 2,50,000 candidates from JEE Main exam will be eligible to participate in JEE Advanced 2022.
• Students who attempted more than once, their best of all the attempted exam scores shall be considered for the preparation of rank list.

JEE Mains Cut Off 2022

The JEE Main cutoff depends on the number of candidates appearing for the exam, the number of seats available in institutions and universities, the difficulty level of the entrance exam, and past years’ cutoff trends. The cutoff for JEE Main is released in two forms: Qualifying cutoff and Admission Cut-off. 

The qualifying cutoff will be released when JEE Main 2022 is declared. However, it is the minimum mark a student must score to qualify for JEE Main 2022 and be eligible to participate in Advanced. 

The admission cut off is released separately. It is the minimum marks a student should score for admission to different institutes. The qualifying cutoff is mentioned in the table below for JEE Main 2021.

Students who aspire to appear for the JEE Main entrance examination face difficulty preparing for the boards and the entrance examination simultaneously. However, it might be difficult initially, but with consistency, innovative time planning, and persistence, a student can achieve their goal with flying colours.

• • Mathematics: For the last three years, the level of questions asked in the Mathematics section has been easy to moderate. Topics such as Vector 3D, Determinants, Matrices are a few high-scoring topics.
    • Students can score 45-50 marks if they attempt 20 Mathematics questions with 65% accuracy. And attempt integer questions vs single-choice questions. 
  • Physics: Physics has been the toughest subject for the last 4-5 years. The numerical questions of the Physics paper were usually from class eleven, whereas the concept-oriented questions came from class twelve. As a result, many questions were long and tricky.

JEE Main 2022 Counselling

Mode of Counselling is Online.

JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) conducts the JEE Main counselling along with the seat allotment process. The JoSAA counselling is held together with counselling for JEE Advanced. JoSSA counselling format consists of 6 general rounds followed by two mock sessions.

There is no separate registration or application fee for JEE Main counselling held by JoSSA.
