Strategic Plan for JEE Main Exam – Section-wise Pointers

JEE Main is highly competitive. Therefore, candidates need to have intelligent preparation techniques and hard work and determination. Below are a few subject-wise approaches to assist students with their exam paper solving: 

  • Mathematics: For the last three years, the level of questions asked in the Mathematics section has been easy to moderate. Topics such as Vector 3D, Determinants, Matrices are a few high-scoring topics. Students can score 45-50 marks if they attempt 20 Mathematics questions with 65% accuracy. And attempt integer questions vs single-choice questions.
  • Physics: Physics has been the most challenging subject for the last 4-5 years. The numerical questions of the Physics paper were usually from class eleven, whereas the concept-oriented questions came from class twelve. As a result, many questions were lengthy and tricky. 
  • Chemistry: Chemistry has historically been more straightforward, and students have a higher chance of scoring high in this subject than the other two subjects. Organic and Inorganic section questions are usually based on the concepts and directly correlate with respective options. So, focus more on these sections first for getting more correct answers.  

JEE Main Syllabus – Paper 2 Aptitude Test

The aptitude section will hold the maximum marks, i.e., 200 marks, in Paper 2A and 2B of JEE Main.

  1. Planning paper has three sections, i.e., Mathematics, Aptitude section, and planning-based objective type. The syllabus for Mathematics in B. Planning section is the same as B.E/B. Tech Maths syllabus. The aptitude section syllabus is as per the B. Arch paper.

Appearing for JEE Main mock tests is very important for any student because it aids in better examination preparedness. Guidelines for the Exam Day:

  • Students must not forget to carry an original copy of a valid photo identity proof issued by the government (PAN Card, Driving Licence, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card with Photograph, E-Aadhar, Ration Card, Aadhaar Enrollment Number with Photo) to the examination hall.
  • No electronic devices, including watches, calculators, phones, and books, will be allowed in the exam hall.

Do’s and Don’ts for JEE Main Exam:

Do’s:

  • Read each question very carefully to ensure a clear understanding, as students often misinterpret questions.
  • Start the question paper by attempting the more straightforward and medium questions of the JEE Main question paper first, which will help boost the candidate’s morale and help in increasing the JEE Main score. 
  • If you get a tricky and time-consuming question, please move to the next question, and translate that, as there is a similar marking for all questions. You can come back to solve the slightly tricky questions once all easy questions are solved.
  • A copy of the hall ticket and a passport-size photo is to be submitted to the invigilator before the commencement of the exam.
  • The candidates are advised to read each question thoroughly and solve it carefully and correctly. Solving questions in haste may result in silly mistakes.

The Syllabus for JEE Main is different for all three papers.

  • Paper 1 concentrates on Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • Paper 2 focuses on Architecture 
  • Paper 3 focuses on Planning.

  • Chemistry: NCERT most important. For reference, use OP Tandon, MS Chouhan, Pradeeps, Morrison and Boyd, Himanshu Pandey, P Bahadur, S.N. Sanyal, etc.
  • Maths: Start with NCERT and RD Sharma. Then go ahead with A Das Gupta, MCQ in Maths, and previous year questions from Arihant.
  • Physics: Start with NCERT and HC Verma. Then go ahead with IIT JEE Questions directly. However, if you have time left after doing past years’ questions, then you can solve Irodov, Resnick, Krotov, and so on. Also, other books from Arihant and GRB are suitable to be referred to.

Practice past years’ JEE Main questions many times. Practice thoroughly. Solve other people’s doubts. These will help you score better. Many questions ask only fundamental concepts, but one should have good clarity, which comes only with practice.
