Question 15. Describe in detail the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. 

Answer    15. During the freedom struggle, people from all walks of life participated in making India a free country by protesting against British rule. For this purpose, a peaceful meeting was taking place in Jallianwala Bagh of Amritsar when a British Commander of the Army, General Dyer, ordered his soldiers to shoot the people. The incident led to the massacre of many unarmed innocent women, children and men, and hundreds were seriously wounded. Indians mourned the deaths with a song as a mark of  respect towards the martyrs and also highlighted the country’s rich tradition of respect for diversity. .

  • Due to its rich climate and fertile soil, rice and vegetables can be cultivated. People in Kerala prefer eating rice, fish and vegetables.

Ladakh:-

  • Ladakh is a Union Territory of India. It is a desert located in the mountainous regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Ladakh does not receive very good rainfall, which is why agriculture is difficult. The area witnesses heavy snowfall for most of the year.
  • However, People in Ladakh are wool traders and even sell the Pashmina wool they get from the wool of the goats they keep.
  • The Pashmina wool is expensive and goat’s wool is used to make Pashmina shawls sold to traders from  Kashmir.
  • People of Ladakh prefer eating meat and consuming milk.
  • Historically, Ladakh has been an attraction for traders who reached the desert through Tibet to carry out trade in spices, silk, textiles and carpets.
