In 1961, the Government of India established the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to provide assistance and advice to the Central and State governments. The organisation develops policies and programs aimed at improving the quality of school education.
NCERT is primarily devoted to conducting, promoting, and coordinating research on school education. Furthermore, NCERT collaborates with international organisations, visits foreign delegations, and provides training to educators in developing countries.
In addition to preparing and publishing model textbooks, supplementary materials, newsletters, and journals, as well as educational kits and digital multimedia materials, the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) also produces educational kits.
With a few exceptions, textbooks published by NCERT for classes I to XII are prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The books are now being adopted by several school boards across many states.
As a National board of secondary education for both public and private schools, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is administered and controlled by the Government of India in New Delhi. Rajputana, Central India, and Gwalior were included in the jurisdiction of the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education in 1921.
In 1929, the Government of India established the Board of High School and Intermediate Education for Ajmer, Merwara, Central India, and Gwalior schools.
Later, it was limited to Ajmer, Bhopal, and Vindhya Pradesh. In 1952, the organisation was given a new name, the Central Board of Secondary Education.
