Chapter 6: Towns, Traders and Craftsperson

Towns were based on specific objectives throughout the mediaeval era, such as commercial towns, port towns, administrative hubs, or administrative centres. Some towns had numerous purposes.. Students will learn about temple towns and pilgrimage centres. The pilgrimage town of Thanjavur as administrative centre in Tamil Nadu will be introduced to the students. Chapter 7: Tribes, Nomads and Settled Communities
