This chapter deals with combustion, different types of combustion, necessary things for combustion, flame, the structure of the flame, fuel and the calorific value chart of different fuels.

Chapter 7: Conservation of Plants and Animals

Students will learn about the conservation of plants, animals, forests and wildlife, deforestation, its causes and its consequences. And reforestation.

Chapter 8: Cell – Structure and Functions

Students will learn the difference between structure and function in a cell, the role of the cell membrane and organelles, and compare animal and plant cells.

Chapter 9: Reproduction in Animals

In this chapter, students learn about the reproductive system of human physiology.

Chapter 10: Reaching the Age of Adolescence

This chapter deals with adolescence and puberty, changes in puberty, the reproductive phase of life in humans and reproductive health.

Chapter 11: Force and Pressure

Force and motion play an important role in everyday life. In this chapter, students will learn how force and motion influence their lives and work.

Students will learn that frictional force allows objects to move and the factors affecting friction.

From this chapter, students learn how sound plays an important role in everyday life.

Chapter 14: Chemical Effects of Electric Current

Students will learn about good and bad conductors of electricity, insulators, chemical effects of electric current, electric circuits, conduction of electricity in water, electroplating and applications of electroplating.

This chapter discusses natural phenomena like lightning and earthquake and the measures to be taken to minimise destruction.

Chapter 16: Light

This chapter discusses the introduction to light, laws of reflection, image formation in the plane mirror and dispersion of light.

Chapter 17: Stars and The Solar System

Students will learn the topics celestial objects, sun, comets, planets, meteors, moon and satellite.

Chapter 18: Pollution of Air and Water

This chapter deals with the causes of air pollution, the effects of greenhouse and how it is caused, global warming, reduction of air pollution and causes of water pollution.

Important Questions Class 8 Science – Weightage

The question paper consists of 34 questions and is divided into four sections: A, B, C, and D. 

  • Section A consists of question numbers from 1 to 15. They are multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each. 
  • Section B consists of question numbers from 16 to 22, and they are short answer type questions carrying two marks each. 
  • Section C consists of question numbers from 23 to 31 short answer type questions carrying four marks each. 
  • Section D consists of question numbers from 32 to 34 long answer type questions carrying five marks each. Solving sample papers is a good method for a student to prepare for the examination. It helps them to understand the pattern of the question paper and the type of question asked in the examination.
