The Class 8 NCERT Book for Social Science Resource and Development contains six chapters. After introducing students to the concept of resources, the first chapter teaches them about “Resources”-its utility and value, conservation, and types – renewable, non-renewable, natural, and man-made resources.
In the second chapter, students learn about the land, soil, and water, their use, availability, conservation, factors affecting soil formation, water scarcity, natural vegetation, and wildlife.
The third chapter explains the types of resources, mainly human-made and natural resources, their current state, and the need for their preservation.

This book has ten chapters. The first chapter introduces students to the Indian Constitution. They also learn about federalism, fundamental rights, and secularism.
The second chapter digs into secularism and explains its importance and definition. Students learn about the need for a parliament and the nationalist movements. Next, students understand the concept of the rule of law, the country’s legal structure, why we need such laws and how the Parliament makes laws.
The next chapter informs them about the judiciary system of the country to make laws, its functions, and the need for an independent judiciary. The sixth chapter sheds light on the weavers, iron smelters, and factory owners of that period. The chapter elaborates on how the Indian weavers witnessed downfall due to the suppression by the British textile industry, and the iron and steel industry gradually gained prominence.
