UPMSP Class 10 English Syllabus- unit-wise syllabus
In accordance with the new changes in the syllabus, the 70 per cent syllabus that will be covered in the upcoming examination is as follows:
Reading 10 marks
- One short passage has three Multiple Choice Questions 3*1= 3
- One passage followed by three very short answer questions 3*2= 6
- One vocabulary-based question 1
Writing skills 10 marks
- Application / Letter (formal/informal) 4
- Report / Article/ Descriptive paragraph (One option based on given verbal input, another on figurative input) in about 80-100 words. 6
Grammar 15 marks
- Five multiple choice questions based on tenses, parts of speech, spellings, articles and reordering of sentences. 5*1= 5
- Three very short answer questions based upon punctuation and narration voice. 3*2= 6
- Translation of a short passage from Hindi to English. (4 sentences) 4
Literature 35 marks

UPMSP Class 10 English Syllabus for internal assessment
The internal assessment will be conducted as follows:
- First internal assessment (based on oral expression) August 10 marks
- Second internal assessment (based on creative writing) December 10 marks
There will be four monthly tests (they will altogether be round up to 10 marks):
- First monthly test in July (Descriptive question based)
- Second monthly test in August (multiple choice questions based)
- Third monthly test in November (Descriptive question based)
- Fourth monthly test in December (multiple choice questions based)
UPMSP Class 10 English Syllabus- Exam pattern
Students in class 10 should be familiar with the exam format as well. The UP class 10 exam will be administered offline, and the exam format has changed in specific ways. The board has decreased the number of exams given. Exam A and Exam B were the previous formats used by the UP Board for each subject. But going forward, each subject will have one exam. The weighting for the UP Board Class 10 exam is listed below:
- Marks out of 70 on the theoretical exam.
- For internal and project work, you get 30 marks.
- Therefore, candidates must take both internal and project work seriously.
