An Overview of NEET Counselling

Candidates taking the NEET and planning to attend the AIQ NEET counselling must register online.

To qualify for the counselling procedure, one must achieve a minimal percentile, or NEET cut-off, to attend. All India Quota (AIQ) means that the colleges of a state registered under MCI have to keep 15% seats reserved for candidates belonging to AIQ. Students (except from J&K) are free to apply in this quota  as the state domicile is not required for the same.

Candidates can also fill seats from the following quotas through NEET UG Counselling:

  • Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical institutes have an IP (Insured Persons) quota.
  • Seats are available at Central and Deemed Universities.
  • Pune’s Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC).

The NEET Counselling results are published as a seat allotment list. The relevant state counselling officials will conduct NEET UG counselling for the remaining 85 percent of seats allocated in private and government medical colleges.

How to go about NEET Counselling

  • The NEET counselling process is divided into three sections.
  • Candidates can choose an indicative seat during mock counselling, allowing them to check and obtain a seat in the first round.
  • After that, the MCC organises counselling sessions for 15% of the population. Seats from the All-India Quota
  • Counselling for separate state quota seats is the responsibility of state counselling personnel.
  • Candidates who have been unsuccessful in securing a seat will be given one more chance to obtain admission to the Mop-up counselling. You can choose from the seats that were left empty after the two AIQ counselling rounds and were turned down by other candidates.
  • To participate in mock counselling, candidates must first register on the official website.
  • Candidates who self-register for state quota counselling must follow the domicile regulations to participate in the state process.
