There are changes happening around us all the time. For example, a balloon expands when air is blown into it, water evaporates when it is heated, and the dough is converted into chapatis that can be consumed by us. Students will learn about these changes in this chapter. They will learn about how some changes are reversible while others are irreversible and they will also learn about how these changes can be brought about using heat or by mixing a substance with another.
In order to help students with their preparation for this chapter, Extramarks offers NCERT Solutions for Class 6 Science Chapter 6. Since Science preparation is incomplete unless a student has attempted all the NCERT questions given at the end of a chapter, students will find these resources by Extramarks very helpful with their preparation. Students can refer to these whenever they get stuck on a question and they can use them to prepare much more effectively. Students can access these resources at any time from the links provided below.

Changes Around Us Class 6 Solutions
The sixth chapter of Class 6 science deals with the physical and chemical changes around us. Here, students get an opportunity to understand how things around them are capable of changing.
This chapter has three subtopics, and all of them present a different account of the change that occurs in our surroundings every day. It begins with the changes that happen daily and moves on to discuss the nature of those changes.
NCERT Solutions for Class 6 Science Chapter 6 Changes Around Us Topic – Wise Discussion
Class 6 Science Chapter 6 has three sub-topics. Here is a topic-wise discussion on each of them.
This chapter begins with an introduction about how we are surrounded by changes happening all around us. Furthermore, it poses some questions like whether students have noticed such changes or not, or if some of them can be grouped together, etc. Changes Around Us Class 6 NCERT prompts students to take note of these changes to give them a practical sense of the chapter.

Can all changes always be reversed?
The focus of this section of the chapter is to discuss whether a change can be reversed or not.
The first activity used here asks students to blow a balloon and see if the balloon changes shape or not. Contrarily when the air escapes from the balloon, the balloon assumes its original form. The phenomenon indicates a change that can be reversed; thus, it is called a reversible change. Students can perform two additional activities at home to understand this concept better.
On the other hand, to take a cue from the previous example, students can blow up a balloon and tie it with a string. After that use any sharp object and burst it. Now, this balloon can not take its original form again. This type of change is regarded as irreversible change.

Could there be other ways to bring a change?
The second sub-topic of Class 6 Science Chapter 6 explores different ways to bring a change other than the methods mentioned above. It begins with an explanation of how wooden handles are fixed to various tools.
Typically, the iron blades on such tools have a ring that is smaller in size when compared to the handle, heat is used to expand it and make it slightly larger in size. Now, this wooden handle will easily fit, and when the ring cools down, it contracts and fits tightly.
There are other similar examples that occur in our surroundings. This alteration in size due to the application of heat is called expansion and contraction. In the presence of rising heat, substances expand in size, and in the absence of heat, they decrease in size. However, if the temperature keeps on increasing, the substance will melt and evaporate. A point to note is that this amount of expansion and contraction varies for different solids, liquids, and gases.
