ISC Class 12 Biotechnology Syllabus

ISC Class 12 Biotechnology Syllabus

Biotechnology creates consciousness about the values of biological processes in its industries. It requires developing the ability to value biological facts in nature and establishing biotechnology for human welfare and creating a scientific perspective toward biological situations.

The subject allows the candidates to acquire more skills. It helps understand why materials are given biological representations to understand goods and services. It further helps to understand the role played by biotechnology in improving health care for humans. To let us know the diversified nature using the ISC Class 12 Biotechnology Syllabus.

The ISC Class 12 Biotechnology Syllabus aids students in several ways, starting from giving them a brief of what to expect from the subject in class 12. In addition, students may tune-up with Extramarks to get the latest news and alerts on the ICSE exams, along with the exam pattern, syllabus, timetable, and more.

Introduction to the Syllabus of ISC Class 12 Biotechnology

Students need to know the syllabus to score well in the ISC Class 12 Biotechnology examination. Biotechnology aims to give candidates an overview of how materials are given biological representations to enable assistance, cherish the role of Biotechnology in uplifting health care, the contribution of Biotechnology to human welfare, and to develop a scientific approach toward biotechnology.

A brief of the ISC Class 12 Biotechnology Syllabus

  1. Molecular Biology:

This is a vital topic, and one needs to understand the nucleic acids, their evaluation, and their biochemical form. It reveals techniques of nucleic acid evaluation, protein synthesis, the idea of reverse transcription, quality of genetic code, change of RNA to protein, and the Operon idea.

  1. Genetic Engineering:

This section of the SC Class 12 Biotechnology syllabus includes the foundation to Gene Cloning and Genetic Engineering, the notion of Cloning and Vectors, innovations in Biotechnology, and Gene analysis techniques.

  1. Cell Culture Technology:

In this section of the ISC Class 12 Biotechnology syllabus, the general tools and techniques used in Cell Culture Technology and their application to microbial, plant tissue, and animal cell cultures, respectively, are explained.

  1. Bioinformatics:

Bioinformatics is an institution for Global Informatics databases and Data retrieval tools, i.e. ENTREZ, and Taxonomy Browser. They are also the resolution of genomics, tools and applications, and the types of Proteomics.

Students may click on the respective chapter to access study material pertaining to the chapter.

ISC Class 12 Biotechnology Syllabus Examination Pattern

ICSE stands for Indian Certificate of Secondary Education. Here the examination is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations for Grade X. Alternatively, ISC stands for Indian School Certificate. This examination is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations for Grade XII. Therefore, ISC & ICSE Syllabus holds equal importance.

The ISC Class 12 Biotechnology syllabus has two papers. Paper 1 is theoretical and is 70 marks. Students are allotted a 3 hours time limit to finish the theory paper. It includes the entire syllabus for that semester.

Paper 2, on the other hand, consists of a practical assessment. It has a time limit of 3 hours. The mark’s weightage is divided into

  • Practical Work – 15 Marks.
  • Project Work –  10 Marks.
  • Practical File –   5 Marks.

Practical Work – 15 Marks.
