ICSE Class 10 Indian Languages Syllabus For Semester (1&2) 2023-2024

The ICSE Syllabus Class 10 Indian Languages Paper Pattern

The Syllabus for ICSE Syllabus Class 10 Indian language is divided into external and internal assessments.

External assessment (total 80 marks): 40 marks each semester

Internal assessment (total 20 marks): 10 marks each semester

External assessment: 

Section A – language (40 marks) This is divided into four components:

  • Composition: Students’ ability to write paragraphs in the form of narrative description or dialogue will be tested. 
  • Letter: In every language of ICSE Syllabus Class 10 Indian Languages, letter writing is an essential piece of composition. 
  • Comprehension: Students need to answer questions on the basis of unseen passages given. This tests the student’s capability in that language. 
  • Grammar: This tests how well students can pick up grammar in the form of vocabulary and sentence structure. The most vital component is grammar. 

Section B – prescribed texts (40 marks). This section is the second part of the Class 10 ICSE Indian Languages Syllabus. Students must answer questions in accordance with the literary texts in the selected language, such as poetry and prose, the students in their respective classes would study that. 

Internal assessment: 

It is the final part of ICSE Syllabus Class 10 Indian Languages. 

  • It contains two assignments to be completed by the end of the school year.
  • One from literature and the other from language. 
  • This includes testing creative writing, listening and speaking skills.
