Every year, NTA (National Testing Agency) conducts the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) for students seeking admission into the highly coveted IITs, NIT’s and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), as well as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced). The JEE Main examination was held between January 7th and 9th, 2020 in an online mode, throughout the country. The paper was held in two shifts; morning and evening. JEE Main is an introductory national level screening test administered by the NTA. It includes two papers. Paper 1 is for admittance to B.E/B.Tech courses in the numerous renowned IITs and NITs while Paper 2 is executed for B.Arch and B.Planning courses.

JEE Mains is a preliminary exam followed by the JEE Advanced exam. The JEE Main syllabus consists of Class 11th and 12th Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. It is held online as a CBT (Computer Based Test). The total marks in this exam are 300. 

The JEE Main paper is of 3 hours duration and is divided into two sections for each subject. Section A includes only the MCQs while Section B consists of ten questions. Students are required to attempt only 5 out of the ten questions in Section B. There is no negative marking in Section B. The JEE Mains Mock Tests following this pattern are available here.

Candidates should have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent to be eligible to appear in the JEE mains entrance test. The candidates should have scored at least 75% or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective board conducting their 12th exam.
